The Balearic Islands Symphony Orchestra, for its part, will hold the concerts for the 2020-21 season at the Trui Teatre. Seating will be limited and the performances will be carried out following established hygiene and safety protocols such as maintaining a safe distance, supplying hydro-alcoholic gel to the audience and the use of a mask is mandatory.
The first block of the season (October-December) will be a tribute to Ludwig van Beethoven, on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of his birth. For this reason, the Symphony Orchestra will perform the first eight symphonies and the five concertos for piano and orchestra by the German composer.
In this first part of the season's programme, the Symphony will have top level pianists, such as Gerhard Oppitz, who will perform Beethoven's five concertos for piano and orchestra, or the acclaimed Joaquín Achúcarro, who will offer Maurice Ravel's Piano Concerto in G Major. In addition, Frank Peter Zimmermann, a world-renowned violinist, will return to Mallorca to perform Felix Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto at the Trui Teatre.
