November, a perfect month to enjoy contemporary art on the Island

The main event for contemporary art in Mallorca takes place in September, in a massive event organized for 24 years by the Art Palma Contemporani Association. This is the Nit de l’Art, with which before the pandemic more than 20,000 people took to the streets who paraded from gallery to gallery contemplating the exhibition offer. This year it took place between the 16th and 19th, adapted to all the protocols established by the health authorities.

If you were unable to visit the galleries for the Nit de l’Art, now is a perfect time to do so. There are extraordinary exhibitions - the galleries reserve some of their best proposals for this event - and you will be able to do it without any problem in terms of attendance. In a relatively quick tour of the center of Palma you can enjoy the works of renowned and prominent artists on the international scene.

That is one of Palma's secrets. It is a city that has a very special relationship with contemporary art. Not in vain is it the Spanish city with the most galleries per inhabitant, and in which resides the gallery of contemporary art with the longest experience in Spain, Pelaires, founded in 1969 by Pep Pinya (in this link you can read the article he wrote for our section Illeslex & Friends) and currently run by his son, Frederic.

Below we have selected a series of exhibitions from the galleries that are part of Art Palma, among which is also the CCA Andratx. November is, without a doubt, an extraordinary month to enjoy contemporary art, and to see for yourself that culture is one of the island's great values, although unfortunately sometimes it is in the shade of the sun and the beach.
