Visas requirements for UK citizens residing in Spain

For UK citizens staying more than 90 days on the Spanish territory, requesting the residency after the 1^rst of January of 2021 and that weren’t living in Spain before this date (because they could benefit from the Withdrawal Agreement in such case).

UK citizens will be subjects to the general immigration regime now with Brexit.

Before going to Spain, the UK citizen has to go to the Spanish consulate in London, Edinburgh or Manchester. Upon arrival in Spain, they have to start the procedure to obtain the residence document and their children also have to be registered with their own residence documents.

You must first apply for temporary residence and after 5 years of residence in Spain, you will be able to apply for permanent residence.
